Songs from the CD "Circle of Women"

Here are the words to the songs I like best to sing from this album. I included the basic arrangements, and left out the parts when the arrangements started getting fancy, and left out the songs I'm not interesting in singing.

I included the words just as they are sung because it is confusing to read words different from the music. Everybody uses their right to be creative, and almost always each song book and recording use slightly different lyrics. So for now in my small library, each CD will have its own set of lyrics, and each song circle will have its own set of lyrics because each community has its own version of the best lyrics.

Earth My Body (song #1)

Earth my body,
Water my blood,
Air my breath,
And fire my spirit.

Oh Ho the Pretty Chain (song #3)

Traditional Shaker Hymn

O' ho the pretty chain that binds us all together
O' ho it's links are love that's wrought by faithful labor
And while this love we do maintain our spirits flow together
Within this chain we will remain
Its linked in pretty mothers

We Shall Lift Each Other Up (song #4)

Written by I-cheie © I-cheie Greentree

Humble yourself, In the sight of your sister
Bend down low and humble yourself, In the sight of your brother
Ask him what he knows and

We shall lift each other up, Higher and higher
We shall lift each other up

Humble yourself, In the sight of the children,
Bend down low and humble yourself, In the sight of our children,
We gota know what they know, ya

We shall lift each other up, Higher and higher
We shall lift each other up

Humble yourself in the sight of love, Bend down low and
Humble yourself in the sight of Jah Love and
Let ya love light show and

We shall lift each other up, Higher and higher
We shall lift each other up

Ancient Mother (song #7)

Ancient Mother I hear you calling
Ancient Mother I hear your song
Ancient Mother I hear your laughter
Ancient Mother I taste your tears

Mother of Darkness/ We all come From The Goddess (medley, song #8)

Mother of darkness, Mother of light
Earth beneath us, soul in flight
Songs of love and love of life
Guide us to our hearts

We all come from the Goddess
And to her we shall return
Like a drop of rain
Flowing to the ocean

O' She Will Bring/Musical Priestess (medley, song #9)

Traditional Celtic

O she will bring the buds in the spring and laugh among the flowers
In the summer's heat her kisses are sweet she sings in leafy bowers
She cuts the cane and gathers the grain when leaves of fall surround her
Her bones grow old in wintery cold she wraps her cloak around her

Celebrate The Rain (song #11)

Written by Alice Di Micele © 1988 Alice Di Micele/Alice Otter Music, BMI

Celebrate the rain fallin' down
Celebrate the green trees growin' from the ground
Celebrate the new paradise we've found
Celebrate the rain fallin' down

Spirit Of The Plants (song #12)

Written by Lisa Thiel © 1984 Lisa Thiel

The spirit of the plants has come to me in the form
of a beautiful dancing green woman
The spirit of the plants has come to me in the form
of a beautiful dancing green woman

Her eyes fill me with peace, her dance fills me with peace
Her eyes fill me with peace, her dance fills me with peace

The spirit of the plants has come to me and
has blessed me with great peace
The spirit of the plants has come to me and
has blessed me with great peace

Her eyes fill me with peace, her dance fills me with peace
Her eyes fill me with peace, her dance fills me with peace

Mother I Feel You (song #15)

Written by Windsong © Dianne Martin (Windsong)

Mother I feel you under my feet,
Mother I hear your heartbeat

Heya heya heya
Ya heya heya heya ho
Heya heya heya heya heya ho

Mother I hear you in the river's song,
Eternal waters flowing on and on

Heya...

Father I see you when the eagle flies,
Flight of the spirit's gonnna take us higher

Heya...

May The Circle Be Open (song #17)

May the circle be open but unbroken
May the love of the goddess be ever in your heart
Merry meet and merry part and merry meet again

Blessed be, blessed be, blessed be
